Lovelock Mitchell Architects – Restructure and Refocus
Lovelock Mitchell Architects are a Chester based architectural practice working regionally, nationally and internationally. The practice operates in several sectors including education, social housing, industrial, large residential, commercial, defence and pharmaceutical.
I was called in to carry out a strategic business review. The practice was struggling with a fall in sales due to the construction downturn, and was looking for ways to breakout and move towards growth.
The strategic review revealed a few issues. These included senior management organisational frustrations. And a need for a marketing and sales growth strategy.
I facilitated meetings with the directors to create an exit strategy for one director. Then restructured the business so it had clear leadership, marketing, sales, operations and finance functions. The original organisation structure was transformed from a single tier, shared responsibility, to a MD and two tier structure with functional responsibility.
Once the direction of the business was agreed and the organisation was restructured, a simple marketing strategy was developed using social media. This included LinkedIn, twitter and blogging to reach the target audience.
A simple sales strategy and process was developed to deliver a predictable and sustainable sales pipeline.
And finally a score card system was created to measure business performance to ensure the business achieves the strategic objectives developed in the plan.
